From drama and dance to improv and play, our programs are all about helping people shine—fueling imagination, boosting confidence, building communication skills, and easing everyday stress. We’re especially passionate about creating space for neurodivergent learners, with programs and tuition designed to make learning feel fun, engaging, and supportive. Powered by our creative partners at Fairly Odd Productions, FOA is still growing—but we’ve got big dreams and bold ideas for future programs for kids, teens, and adults alike. We're excited to share some big news!
This fall, Fairly Odd Academy is expanding beyond Gold Bar Community League and bringing our creative performing arts programs to Windsor Park Community League.
This means even more opportunities for children, families, and adults to experience the fun, confidence, and creativity that make FOA special—all in another welcoming community space.
Whether you've been with us since the beginning or you're discovering Fairly Odd Academy for the first time, we'd love to welcome you.
Our Windsor Park programs are open to everyone—you don't need to live in the neighbourhood to join us.

Performance Programs
Theatre Craft is FOA's performance-focused theatre program coming this fall where participants work together to create original theatrical experiences from the ground up.
More than an acting class, Theatre Craft invites young people to explore the many elements of theatre-making, including storytelling, performance, movement, devising, design, and production (non-performing). Each group helps shape the direction of the program, drawing on the interests, ideas, and strengths of the participants to create something uniquely their own.
Whether devising an original piece, adapting a favourite story, experimenting with a theatrical style, or discovering an entirely new idea together, every Theatre Craft term is a collaborative creative journey.
Throughout the each term, participants develop theatre skills while learning how to work as an ensemble, solve creative challenges, and transform ideas for a live audience. The process is just as important as the final product.
Each term culminates in a performance or presentation for family, friends, and the community, providing an opportunity to celebrate the creativity, dedication, and imagination of everyone involved.
Ages 7–11
Explore theatre through imagination, storytelling, creative play, movement, and performance while building confidence and collaboration skills.
Ages 12–14
Develop performance and theatre-making skills through creative exploration, ensemble work, and collaborative creation.
Ages 15–17
Take a leading role in the creative process through devising, performance, production, and artistic decision-making while working toward a polished final presentation.
No previous theatre experience is required—just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to create something together

A creative theatre program that helps develop performance skills while building confidence, self-expression, and real-world social skills.
Through improvisation, character work, storytelling, and theatre games, participants learn how to use their voice, body, and imagination to bring ideas to life. Along the way, they develop valuable skills such as communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
In a welcoming, supportive environment, students are encouraged to take creative risks, try new things, and build confidence in their abilities.
At the end of the 10-week program, participants will have the option to take part in a short, informal 15-minute presentation for family and friends. This relaxed sharing allows students to practice real performance skills — while celebrating their creative work in a supportive environment

Program for Mums and Others
Groove for Mums | Mums and others |
Groove for Mums is a relaxed, welcoming dance fitness class designed especially for mums — with babies and little ones warmly welcome. But others are also welcome.
Inspired by the spirt of Groove with Kate, this class is all about moving your body, lifting your mood, and having fun. The difference? A gentler pace, lower music volume, and plenty of flexibility. Expect a supportive, low-pressure environment with more breaks between dances and lots of space to move in a way that feels good for you.
This new program is designed to help mums bust the midweek blues while reconnecting with their bodies. Little ones are welcome to rest, play, observe, or join in the energetic (and often silly!) dances. The class flows around real life — with time for feeding, diaper changes, cuddles, and shared moments whenever you need them.
The focus is on gently rebuilding strength and stamina, reconnecting with your body, easing stress, and sharing a few laughs with other mums.
There’s no pressure to keep up or get it right. Like dancing itself, this class moves with you.

Meet the Fairly Odd Founder
Kate Sheridan is a theatre maker and performing arts educator with over 25 years of experience working across Ireland, England, and Canada. Her work spans acting, directing, choreography, and teaching, with a focus on creating meaningful and engaging experiences for people of all ages and abilities.
Throughout her career, Kate has performed in and created a wide range of productions, from ensemble theatre to solo performance. She is the writer and performer of When Life Gives You Melons, a one-person show exploring dyslexia, and has directed and choreographed original works including The Man Who Fell to Pieces, presented at the Edmonton Fringe Festival.
She holds an MFA in Theatre Practice from the University of Alberta, where her research explored neurodivergent learning and the use of performing arts as a tool for connection, confidence, and understanding. This research continues to shape her approach to teaching, where adaptability, creativity, and empathy are at the core of every class.
Kate founded Fairly Odd Productions in 2021, followed by Fairly Odd Academy in 2025. Through FOA, she designs and delivers community-based programs that are accessible, affordable, and rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a space to be creative.
Her approach has been shaped not only by her professional training, but also by her early experiences growing up in Northern Ireland during a time when theatre was used to help bring communities together. Since then, she has remained interested in how the arts can support people socially, emotionally, and creatively.
At Fairly Odd Academy, Kate’s aim is simple: to create a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable to try something new, express themselves, and maybe even surprise themselves along the way
